Ninguém sabe ao certo onde começa uma canção. Se é a letra que vem primeiro, se é a melodia. Surge um tema na cabeça do autor, será assim? Ou de repente ele assovia ao acaso e descobre a música certa pro seus versos? Vida de artista também é assim, não tem começo programado. Há quem receba o talento de herança, há quem seja o primeiro em gerações a se meter com alguma arte. Há quem se construa como artista, escolhendo a arte por caminho e talhando em si mesmo a vocação que o berço lhe negou. E há quem se descubra artista assim do nada, de repente, como quem recebe uma benção em forma de dom. Mas quem disse que vida de artista é simples? Muitas vezes o destino inventa um labirinto entre o artista e sua arte e, nesse caminho, muitos talentos se deixam ficar na estrada. A menina que viveu tão de perto a música de seu país cresceu vendo seus passos se afastando das pegadas da cantora que ela sempre soube que seria. Entretanto, Glaucia Nasser se mostrou um exemplo vivo de que sonhos são feitos para serem vividos, não importa quando e nem onde. Quando percebeu que seus passos estavam se afastando daquilo que amava, Glaucia decidiu largar tudo para se lançar em sua paixão, a música. O fato é que essa paixão se reflete em seu trabalho com canções que mostram, como poucos, todas as nuances da emoção humana e, além de conquistar fãs em diversos lugares, essa forma singela de compor e criar lhe garantiu elogiosas críticas de nomes marcantes da nossa música como Nelson Motta, Roberto Menescal, Ivan Lins, entre outras importantes pessoas do cenário musical que endossam essa guinada artística na vida de Glaucia iniciada há 10 anos atrás. De lá pra cá, quatro CDs, inúmeros shows, prêmios, elogios, indicações, aplausos. E também dificuldades, dúvidas, ansiedades, críticas, questionamentos. Enfim, tudo o que forma e dá consistência a uma vida de artista. Forma e consistência que conquistou a admiração do público e lhe garantiu convites importantes como a inclusão da faixa "Lábios de Cetim", de seu primeiro CD, na coletânea Acoustic Brazil, do selo Putumayo, ao lado de nomes como Caetano Veloso e Chico Buarque. A mesma música foi incluída na trilha sonora do filme "O Visitante" que recebeu uma indicação ao Oscar 2009. Além do clipe de sua outra música "Balanço Zona Sul” ser escolhido para ser exibido em todos os aeroportos do Brasil, além de todas as aeronaves da TAM. Essa música faz parte do segundo CD da cantora, "Bem Demais", que conta com um presente especial de Ivan Lins, justamente a música que intitula o CD e dita o clima deste álbum, bem demais. Mantendo a qualidade como peça chave de seu trabalho, em 2008, Glaucia lança seu terceiro CD, seu primeiro autoral, "A Vida Num Segundo", que é incluido pelo jornalista e crítico musical belga Daniel Achedjian na lista dos 20 melhores daquele ano, ao lado de nomes como Lenine, Adriana Calcanhoto, Ney Matogrosso, Ed Motta, Chico César, Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia, Skank, Milton Nascimento e Seu Jorge. No final de 2010, Glaucia lança seu CD "Vambora" e inicia um turnê que roda o Brasil passando pelas principais capitais do país e conquistando público e crítica com um show maduro, que explora os diferentes timbres e sonoridades e que conta com direção musical de André Abujamra e produção de Márcio Nigro. Valendo-se de um repertório recheado de canções fortes feitas em parceria com grandes nomes como Chico Amaral, Carlos Rennó, Carlos Careca, Chico César, Alexandre Lemos, Rodrigo Bergamota, Magno Melo, Edu Krieger, André Abujamra e Márcio Nigro, seu show tem encantado o público do Brasil e do exterior, até mesmo em mercados competitivos como o dos EUA, onde a cantora iniciou a turnê internacional de lançamento de "Vambora" e participou do programa Fine Arts Concerts, série de concertos da rádio WDNA 88.9 FM de Miami, emissora especializada em Jazz e World Music e que tem 35 anos de atividade no ar. Essa incursão encantou o multi-premiado percussionista Sammy Figueroa que decidiu iniciar uma parceria única e inédita com a cantora que resultou em um disco único e empolgante. Esse trabalho, inclusive, carrega um simbolismo importante pois recebeu a chancela do lendário produtor Roy Cicala pouco antes dele falecer. Roy, um mestre do som que trabalhou com John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen entre outros nomes que fizeram história na música mundial, se encantou com o projeto que lhe foi apresentado por intermédio de Sammy e, mesmo sem conhece-la pessoalmente, ofereceu seu estúdio e seu trabalho para a gravação da voz da cantora. Infelizmente, por obra do destino, Roy saiu de cena antes que esse encontro ocorresse, mas sua expertise e carisma estão presentes espiritualmente neste trabalho, pois a voz de Glaucia foi gravada no estúdio de Roy sob a tutela de seu discípulo. Com um talento indiscutível e parcerias importantes, Glaucia Nasser mostra um trabalho coeso e de qualidade, digno de figurar entre os grandes nomes da música mundial. Tudo isso fruto de uma guinada radical em busca de um sonho que essa menina, mulher, mãe e cantora decidiu buscar. Glaucia é a personificação de uma canção, pois com as palavras e frases de sua vida, ela decidiu criar versos e refrões e, assim, transformar a sua história em uma bela melodia. Fui chegando até Glaucia bem devagar...

Primeiro, por esses mecanismos da internet, fui sabendo do seu trabalho... E assim o encanto foi chegando com mais clareza e motivos…

Com o passar do tempo essa mineira foi se aproximando da Bahia, aqui do nosso recôncavo, e de uma forma muito digna, ela entrou em nossas praias, passou pela Casa da Mãe, provou de nossas comidas e ouviu uma música que é feita aqui e que poucas pessoas conhecem... Veio para fazer uma temporada com seu mais novo espetáculo, veio para um teatro aconchegante, baiano, o Gamboa, que fica defronte da Baía de Todos Os Santos, e lá, ela assumiu o palco, seu altar, e com sua banda maravilhosa foi nos inundando com belas canções, com sua voz de sereia e com o carisma sedutor das feiticeiras... Foi um show lindo, um show que fez bem à minha cidade.

Nobody knows for sure where a song starts. Would it be the lyrics popping first and asking for the matching tunes or the other way around? Or maybe, who knows, the author whistles at random and finds the right melody for his verses? Becoming an artist is quite like that as well, there is no scheduled start. There are those whose talents are inherited, there are those who are the first in generations to get involved with some kind art. There are those who build themselves as artists, choosing art as the right path and carve out of themselves the vocation they haven ́t be given from the cradle. But who said an artist ́s life is simple? Truth is destiny often creates a labyrinth between the artist and his art and along this track, many talents are lost on the road. Thus, the girl who has lived so heart-close to the music of her country grew up watching her own steps being taken away from the footprints of the singer she has always known she would become one day. In despite of that, Glaucia has always been a living example that dreams were made to be lived, regardless of time and place. When she realized that her footsteps were taking her away from what she most cherished, Glaucia decided to drop everything and throw herself into her true passion - music. Fact is that this passion is reflected in her work with songs that show as few others, every nuance of human emotion. And, in addition to win fans in several places, this single way to compose and create has granted her critical praise from notable names of our music such as Nelson Motta, Roberto Menescal, Ivan Lins, among other important people in the music scenario who endorse this artistic ten-year-old shift in the life of Glaucia Nasser. Since then, four CDs, countless shows and awards, praise, nominations, applause. Also difficulties, doubts, anxieties, criticisms and questionings. Anyway, all that gives shape and consistency to an artist life. Shape and consistency that has conquered her audience’s admiration and derived important engagements like the inclusion of the track “Lábios de Cetim”, from her first album, in the Putumayo’s seal Acoustic Brazil, alongside with names like Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque. The same song was part of the film “The Visitor” that has been an Oscar nominee in 2009. Besides that, it is worth mentioning the clip of “Balanço Zona Sul” (from “Bem Demais”, her second CD), chosen to be exhibited on the TV of all airports in Brazil as well as inside TAM’s aircrafts. “Bem demais” is also the name of a special song, a gift from Ivan Lins, that originated the title of the CD and set the mood of the album – bem demais (too well, in English). Keeping quality as the key feature of her work, in 2008 Glaucia launches her third CD, “A Vida Num Segundo”, which is included by Belgian journalist and music critic Daniel Achedjian among the Top 20 of that year, alongside names like Lenine, Adriana Calcanhoto, Ney Matogrosso, Ed Motta, Chico César, Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia, Skank, Milton Nascimento and Seu Jorge. In the end of 2010, Glaucia releases her CD “Vambora” and starts a tour that runs throughout Brazil by the major state capitals of the country, winning audience and critics with a mature show, which explores the different timbres and sonorities - musically directed by André Abujamra and produced by Márcio Nigro. With a repertoire filled with good songs done in partnership with big names like Chico Amaral, Carlos Rennó, Carlos Careca, Chico César, Alexandre Lemos, Rodrigo Bergamota, Magno Melo, Edu Krieger, André Abujamra and Márcio Nigro, her show has enchanted audiences in Brazil and abroad, even in competitive markets like the US, where the singer began her International “Vambora” Tour and has participated in the Fine Arts Concerts, a series of programs promoted by the Miami WDNA 88.9FM radio station, specialized in Jazz and World Music, with 35 years of activity on air. This incursion has enchanted the multi-awarded percussionist Sammy Figueroa, who decided to start a unique and unprecedented partnership with the singer, which has resulted in an exciting album. This work also carries an important symbolism since it has received the backing of the legendary Roy Cicala, shortly before he passed away. Roy, a master of sound who has worked with John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen (among other names that have made history in the world of music), became interested in the project presented by Sammy and even without knowing Glaucia personally, offered his studio and his cooperation for the recording of the singer ́s voice. Unfortunately, by a twist of fate, Roy has left the scene before the meeting took place but his expertise and charisma are present spiritually in this work, because Glaucia ́s voice was recorded in Roy’s studio under the tutelage of his disciple. With an undeniable talent and key partnerships, Glaucia Nasser shows a cohesive, quality work, worthy to be among the great names of the music world. All this as the result of a radical turn in search of a dream that this girl, woman, mother and singer has decided to pick. Glaucia is the personification of a song because with words and phrases of her life, she decided to create verses and refrains and thus turn her story into a beautiful melody. And for that, our ears and hearts thank her so. TESTIMONY I approached Glaucia slowly... At first, through these mechanisms of the internet, I got acquainted with her work... and thus the enchantment arrived more clearly and objectively... As time went by, this *Mineira slowly approached Bahia, right here at our **recôncavo, and in a very dignifying way, she entered our beaches, went by ***Casa da Mãe, tasted our food and listened to a music that is only made here and that very few people know of. She came on a tour with her newest show. She came to a cozy ****baiano theater, the Gamboa, right in front of Baía de Todos Os Santos, and from there, she took over the stage, her altar, and with her wonderful band she filled us with her beautiful songs in her mermaid voice and with the seductive charisma of the witches...it was a beautiful show, a show that did good to my city.
